Dear Parents/Guardians,
Fireside School is a community-based school where supporting and fostering a close relationship between home and school is a key component in enabling our young learners to reach their full potential. Throughout this school year, we will work together to challenge our students to grow in many ways, including academically, emotionally, and physically.
For the 2025/26 school year, Fireside School is home to approximately 930 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, supported by 65 dedicated and passionate staff members. While we are a large school, we take pride in staying connected and responsive to our community. We believe that the closer the connection between home, school, and community, the more effectively we can support our students together.
This year, our school improvement work will focus on three key areas:
- Supporting student literacy and numeracy
- Celebrating and supporting diversity
- Creating inclusive, engaging, and healthy learning opportunities for all students
Some initiatives currently underway include:
- A student literacy program designed to meet learners where they are and provide them with the tools and love of reading they need to succeed.
- Purposeful celebrations of our amazing community, including honouring local Indigenous nations.
- Foster a culture that develops both academic skills and social-emotional tools to build student resilience
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, concerns, or simply for an update on your child’s progress. We look forward to a successful and exciting school year ahead.
Sincerely,
Dave Banderk
Principal
